Shell Bunker Hill Site Launch December 2009

The site was officially opened by Tim Pallas MP, Minister for Roads and Ports and for Special Projects. In attendance were Russell Caplan, Chairman, Shell Australia Limited, Bob Shergold, National Development Manager for Hungry Jacks and Gary Liddell, CEO of Vicroads. Shell representatives were also on site providing information packages to truck drivers and other motorists.

In terms of challenges, the press conference itself took place on the service station forecourt, on a  hot December day..   As part of Shell Coles Express commitment to safety there were a number of  safety procedures involved in working around highly flammable substances. The service station was also operational at the time of the official launch which presented safety challenges the Ready Set Go team were fully briefed / equipped to handle, including managing traffic of trucks stopping at the site to refuel or pick up lunch from the convenience store.

In spite of these challenges, the launch was a great success, attracting coverage by specialist media and increasing awareness to truck drivers and the general public
