Shell Chairman's Dinner 2009

The event is part of their Grand Prix celebrations and is held each year. We produced the event in 2009 for the third time.

The event presents some interesting challenges. Firstly, it is the Chairman's Dinner! Need we say anymore... The expectations are at their highest from the off. Also, most of the people attending the event are immersed in the carnival that is the Australian Grand Prix, and, they're no event virgins either! Finally, the event is held on the Saturday night after most guests have been "at the track" for the majority of the day.

But this year was even more challenging. Original planning had the event taking place at the Southern Star Observation Wheel. We received a call in early February [after the event was fully planned] to inform us that the wheel was no longer working. So, we had to find a new venue that woudl stack up for this event for the Satuday night of the Grand Prix. Not happy Jan!

After much searching the Port Melbourne Yacht Club freakishly became available. A booking had canceled.

We dressed the room with a real Ferrari Formula One and the beautiful venue did the rest. With its bayside outlook and a magnificent March sunset we were setup for a great night.

Speeches from Russell Caplan and Richard Bracewell [General Manager Sponsorships, Shell Brands International] kept the crowd informed and a fantastic performance by "The Rat Pack's Back" kept them entertained. And, when there was a lull in proceedings, the guests wasted not time making a beeline for our Speed Demon racing simulators for their chance to be Felipe Massa racing around the Albert Park Track.

All in all, challenges overcome and a great night was had by all.
